A little suggestion for help with testers

So this may be a stupid idea, but I just thought of something while I was crocheting that I thought I should share. So, I always have my patterns tested, and I’m having a major problem with people not finishing and not communicating. Please know I am not mad at anyone, targeting anyone, or suggesting something about my testers, as this is a repeat occurrence and I know that this happens to many people. I had 80 people testing my giraffe and only 60 finished. Of those 20 who didn’t, less than half communicated the reason why they couldn’t finish. While I understand that things come up, I do find it frustrating when people abort for no reason. That being said, my suggestion is that besides karma, we can see what percentage of tests the people applying to test our patterns have been approved for and have finished. I know karma is helpful, but there are reasons why it doesn’t help. For instance, if someone has 50 karma, which is great, but has been approved for 100 tests, they would only have finished 50% of the tests they applied for, which isn’t great. On the other hand, someone with 7 karma, which is okay, and who has been approved for 7 tests, has a 100% completion rate, which is awesome. As a designer, I think this would be helpful as it would eliminate some of the frustration with testing. Again, this may be a stupid idea, but I just thought I’d suggest it and see what y’all think.

that’s a really good idea!! i think it would also help everyone to stay committed to their testing because they would know that people can see their completion rates, not just their karma!

Oooo that would be VERY helpful, so far I’ve had like 1 (or more) people on every of my pattern tests ghost me EVEN THOUGH i say no ghosting in the tester call it’s so annoying when people who apply but then ghost me >:(

I really like this idea, it would help a lot when choosing testers!! Thank you!
@ribblr, can you make this happen??

YES YES YES this would be so helpful. I’ve also had issues lately, withing the past month or so, I’ve only really had half of my testers finish. For one pattern, I approved 5 and 2 finished. Only 1 of the 3 who didn’t communicated. I understand, we’re all busy, especially with the holidays coming up, but it’s frustrating when I design a pattern and then I don’t have testers finish, meaning I have less feedback and journals than I expected.

@Ribblr please make this feature if possible! It would be so so helpful :purple_heart:

Thanks for all the support! Didn’t expect it to catch on like this! Also just to add on to what I said earlier, it would also help people with less karma get selected. Sometimes I feel like only the people with tons of karma get picked, which is unfair for new testers. If they had a good percent, it might help their chances

Oh yeah, that would be nice for beginners

That is genius. It’s not stupid at all! Hope they consider this! :star_struck:

Yes, this would be so helpful as a fellow designer

I agree. So many people don’t finish or communicate. I am kinda tired of the people who say they will test but don’t.

I love this idea.

I agree, I usually try to pick a few people with a bunch of karma and a few with very little karma, but honestly I hate picking low karma people because they almost never finish, and often don’t even respond.

I am very new here and don’t understand the journal part of testing. I completed one pattern and did not know how to journal how do I figure that out? And what in the world is Karma— other than what come back to get you LOL
