Anything under 15 usually sells great! Usually axelotls, mushrooms and ofc bees are the way to go.

Warning: this is long lol  this is more general tips than what you can sell for the most part

Definitely know your audience! Who’s more likely to visit a market/what do they like and location. For example if it’s a usually hot place then making something like earmuffs might not sell well if it’s a hot climate (this is just a simple example) Don’t worry if you think a certain age group won’t like a certain thing, I guarantee you there’s an audience for everything regardless of age, in general cute sells!

Also keep in mind the price, you don’t want to undersell your work! However keep in mind if you’re only accepting cash that not everyone carries around a lot of money, I personally don’t carry bills higher than 20/a lot of money so having smaller items that’s don’t cost as much is a good idea. Also consider making the same item in many colors as that can get more sells when there’s options. Also it’s not as bad idea to have more big/expensive items in display as well to catch others attention to visit your booth. If it sells, good! If not it still gets the attention of others

Have a great customer service, don’t be on your phone/distracted/quiet make sure to engage with hello’s or ask how they’re doing, how they like the market, etc

I would consider having hand sanitizer as well, just to make sure to stay sanitary (plus I always put on hand sanitizer especially if I want to feel an item like yarn so I would definitely go to a booth just to use it lol )

Stay hydrated! Bring lots of water. I don’t know if you’ll be inside or outside or the climate where the market is but stay warm/cool

Consider looking into/buying items for better organization/displays looking online would help too

Honestly there’s a lot of great advice here, use the magnifying glass in the community and search market and click the topics to see some comments because a lot of what I said I got from those and I can’t remember all the great advice

Good luck with your market! I hope you do well

I would say mini items will probably sell better and also popular items will sell better

def watch this if you haven’t! So if you do amigurumi i would do a bunch of minis ( say maybe five of each different animal) and then bigger plushies (only one of each kind and about 5 to 8 depending on time) also don’t only maybe amigurmi! Try some coasters, car hangs, trinket dishes, keychains, etc. GL btw!

  • Don’t over crowd your table
  • Bring lots of water and snacks
  • bring displays that give you extra space
  • make price signs ( I add them to my items but you could makes signs too
  • bring scissors, tape, a pen, notepad for notes
  • make sure you have plenty of variety in stock
  • pre write down your inventory as you sell mark it off
  • take note of what’s selling what’s not
  • cash box
  • A banner if you don’t have that make a poster with your name on in and use a clear plastic display
  • engage with customers
  • Have someone with you at your table or booth if you can For breaks
I’ll be honest when I did my first market way back in 2011 I wish I’d of had tips cause I was lost.
If I think of anything else to suggest I’ll make another comment

Congrats on you first market

unlike selling online, people tend to buy smaller items in markets. you can crochet keychains or hand-sized plushies. don’t forget to keep a journal of what people buy so you can use the data later to see what is more popular. if your items are made with plush yarn, i also recommend bringing a sticky roller wheel(usually made for dust and hair) because plush yarn can get quite messy.
here are my current best sellers:

  • bees
  • octopuses / octopi
  • mushrooms
  • leggy frogs
  • turtles
  • dinos

like i said before, smaller items tend to sell better but its nice to have some larger items displayed as they attract more customers. its also a good idea to have a theme in your stand. you don’t want to be selling random items like plushies but then also sell hats. use or design a cute shop banner with your shop name as it also attracts more customers. (you can message me if you need help doing so) . make sure to have good display with buckets or maybe even a keychain rack.

its important not to overprice your items, so watch videos online on how other people price their crochet. you can also find some inspo on organizing your booth.

if you happen to have some random projects that were a little bit less quality(like a string sticking out) or not many people seem to be interested, you can have a “clearance bucket” with pretty much anything you want.

anyways, good luck on you’re market

Don’t underthink or overthink your packaging! The first time I sold at a market I wasn’t thinking about how people were supposed to get their items home and people were somewhat upset having to stick it in their purse/pocket. Then I bought some expensive handled paper bags with tissue paper and stamped every single bag, wrote an individual thank you note on all of them, wrapped it up like a boutique, it was such a tiresome effort and i wound up having to increase my costs to cover it. In the end I found that paper lunch bags are just as effective and cheap as dirt, plus they’re eco friendly!
