I need more yarn for amigurumi, and I am going today to get more. I usually use red heart, big twist, bernat velvet, and lion brand. I don’t really use bernat velvet unless I’m making baby blankets. I do use cotton and acrylic yarns regularly. Any suggestions for yarn brands to use? I buy my yarn at Joann’s.

Honestly that’s hard to say since I don’t know what yarn your Joann’s have but personally I look at the price and the yards to see if there’s a better deal for example I wouldn’t get something for 107 yards if it costs $5 when I can get one for $2 with 224 yards (these are just random numbers to show an example not real ones) personally the only thing that beats that is how the yarn feels. So seeing how it feels is the most important to me as it’s going to touching my gliding against my hand and fingers so if I know it’s going to hurt my skin I don’t bother, personaly
I love to use bernat value super saver yarn recently since it has a lot of yards and good colors, although I don’t know if they have it there at joann’s also it’s always good to look online and see the reviews for the yarn as well as pricing in other places you might be able to get it cheaper online/nearby in another store, but this tidbit applies to every store 
Also I know a lot of people use bernat blanket yarn or perhaps bernat baby blanket yarn for amigurumi and it comes out cute, I haven’t tried it yet but if you like that’s something to consider as well 
Also make sure to use some coupons! Prices at joann’s is more expensive where I’m at compared to lets say Michael’s where I’m at so I don’t usually shop there lol although it might be different with your Joann’s

The only places in my area that sell yarn is walmart and joanns. I don’t usually by yarn at walmart because they don’t have a great or big selection but when I need more of a color I check walmat and get it if they have it. I do check online, but for the yarn I need for a blanket I’m working on is more expensive online and they don’t have it at walmart so I get it at joanns. I do check and compare prices before buying.

I don’t know what Joann’s sells. Last time I was I the US I didn’t go into the store 
. My suggestions are bernat blanket or premier parfait are both good.
Although the parfait does shed some don’t like it because of that.
