Anyone know about plants

So i was on a walk with my puppy and came across this weird plant. Ive never seen this before. I didnt let my puppy get too close to it and i didnt touch it. But im confused and curious as to what is is. Please let me know if you have an idea. There were more smaller ones, but i only took this 1 picture because of how dark it was, and the fact that its in someone’s yard. Thank for any help.

It may also be Polyporus umbellatus.
Here are two articles about it:

Or, a little more research, it could be Armillaria tabescens, which is a type of honey mushroom. I’ll keep looking

Edit: Yeah, this is almost certainly it. Sorry for my mistake earlier.

Mushrooms grow after a lot of rain, or watering. Where there are dead materials. Like wood chips. Or a tree stump underground. When things are decomposing. They are good for the ground, not for us. Just leave it alone. From my experience, the dogs may check them out, but won’t want to eat them. My favorite (not) is the one that looks like dog vomit. I think that’s what they call it.

Fun fact: fungi (such as mushrooms) are more closely related to the animal kingdom than the plant kingdom! I like walking around looking for mushrooms and trying to identify them. Although I don’t particularly enjoy eating mushrooms… I just think fungi are fascinating!

It’s difficult to determine the species without seeing the stalk, gills, and spore color. Many mushroom species are edible, but also many are toxic to ingest. (Anywhere from causing mild sickness to actually being life threatening.) Touching it is fine though. Best practice with wild mushrooms is never eat them unless you’re 110% sure it’s an edible species. Lots of edible species have toxic lookalikes. When in doubt, don’t eat it. Don’t let dogs eat them either! Idk much about dogs so maybe some mushrooms are okay, but better to stick on the safe side and not let them eat any!
