Are you spending money for patterns? If yes, which kind?

I have been observing sales at a market yesterday and saw mostly kids buying (aka convincing their parents to buy) mostly cute, colorful items.
Now I am curious how it’s about pattern selling. What kind of patterns do you buy?

  • I can’t spend money here
  • I can spend a limited amount that I can’t surpass
  • I can spend as much as I deem worth it

If you can or if you could spend money here, what kind of patterns are you most willing to spend money on?

  • Crochet patterns
  • Knitting patterns
  • Sewing patterns
  • Tunesian crochet patterns

Most patterns seem to be crochet patterns, so let’s specify that a little more. What kind of paid patterns are you most interested in:

  • Amigurumi
  • Plushies
  • Clothes
  • Accessories
  • Functional items
  • Something else

I’m curious to see what’s worth money to you. If you are interested in this as well maybe we can do a part 2 and specify it even more, but I don’t want to bother you with too many question at once, just cause I am curious:face_with_peeking_eye:

I think that kids like plushies that have unique features for example:

Good for stress relief :red_apple: :worm:

And…

Since kids like plushies holding stuff! :bubble_tea:

I like unique items, I make a lot of fidgets, and stuff for other people. I won’t spend money on something that I can find a hundred of. I also like things that provide a base idea, that I can then add my own ideas to.

I never thought in that direction but it makes sense. So you buy one pattern but get more. Did you find patterns like this here already? Can you share an example?

I have bought a few patterns that I didn’t make yet, to be honest. Can’t recommend it:face_with_peeking_eye: Luckily most patterns aren’t expensive, buying yarn you never end up using tends to be more expensive. Nevertheless I hope I will make them soon:blush:

I’m sorry, luckily many free patterns got you covered here. I am currently using my free Ribblr Gold time and try to get all the patterns I wishlisted because I used up my 5 free ones when I saw them. After hours of clicking and scrolling and waiting for the page to load and more scrolling … I gave up on that thought:joy:

If there is a shape or a technical detail that I don’t understand how to make, I buy it. Amigurumi is very new to me, but there are so many free and beautiful patterns that I usually don’t need to buy paid ones. There have been 2-3 things that I haven’t found a similar pattern and don’t want to try to do the same toy by making and frogging a hundred times. I haven’t bought them yet because I don’t have time to crochet. If I knew I will crochet them immediately, I would buy, just to not guess the numbers and etc.

I free hand all of my clothing so I guess I will never buy one.

This is a pattern i made. I give the basic dress instructions, and several options of different ways to modify different positions. Plus you could do so many other things to make it your own.

That’s a great way to get a pattern, especially for the people who can’t spend money here:+1:

Don’t feel bad about it, crochet can be tricky and charts certainly are one of these tricky parts. Maybe we can help you, so you can make it. I’m sure as a community we could figure it out. What kind of pattern is it?

I have done patterns with charts, and can offer help if you want it.

I’ll tell you a little secret about my shop…

I plan on giving away at least 5 patterns to followers once I reach 51 followers.

Also I’m willing to negotiate price if you message me. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I don’t buy them here, but I do buy some crochet/sewing patterns every now and then on Etsy (lol crafty intentions sponsor here)

Thanks to both of you for the offer, its a charted tapestry type cardigan pattern,I am simply failing to meet the gauge then also i read through the pattern and the adding the pieces together just dont make sense to me…

Then.. i started using the yarn i bought for it on another project ..

I have yet to make a pattern actually following a gauge. I struggle to find a way to make my stitches match what the pattern says they should be. I found in one instance it was the yarn I was using was too light, even though it was supposedly the correct weight. So i understand that struggle.

I get that, it’s supposed to be fun, and when to many difficulties add up it makes sense to just move on. But sometimes it can help to just rent about it and discuss options with other. Feel free to reach out next time you are in a similar situation:hugs:
