Ive only been crocheting sice November, but tried lots of different things. Had a baby shower for work, gender unknown, made a diaper cake and added all sorts of different crochet items. Sea turtle, hippo, elephant and cap sort of scattered about. Sea turtle was a staff favorite. Good luck!

Baby cakes are fun, especially if you have someone to go in on it with you to help with the cost of diapers for the filler and pacifiers and bottles while you do the crochet parts. Make little booties and roll to look like little flowers on the cake, ect… I think @LifeInParadise baby cake looks amazing

I made this pink Elephant a couple of years ago, its from RepeatCrafterMe book Crochet Critters.

And another idea is newborn cocoons, I made Hungry Caterpillar sets, but you could do cocoons in elephant colors with little elephant hats or whatever you end up choosing. Just an idea.
