captain hat pattern help (please i need help)

ok so i’m not sure where to put this (or what to call it) but i am going on a disney cruise next week and am trying to make a captain mickey crocheted plush. i did the body, but am stuck on the hat. i found a captain hat pattern online that i was planning on buying but for some reason the site is not letting me purchase it, so now i have to freehand it

this is the picture, does anyone have any ideas of how to get the shape of the white part? i’ve tried a couple things but so far nothing has worked

(for reference, here is the plush so far- haven’t sewed on ears yet)

i would say do a slightly conical shape and then pop it into itself if that makes sense??

maybe use FLO for one of the rounds near the edge?

Just messing around, I did this…

8 sc in MR (8)

8 inc (16)

(Sc, inc) x8 (24)

24 sc (24)

12 dec (12)

Maybe try following this, (lol I just came up with it in my head, so who knows

Sc 6 into MR (6 st)

Inc entire round (12 st)

(Sc, inc)x6 (18 st)

(2 sc, inc)x6 (24 st)

Next round I’d try one of these 2 rows and see which works better

a. (2 sc, dec)x6 (18 st)

b. (sc, dec)x8 (16 st)

And then for the next rounds try experimenting with more decreases on the front of the hat, since it tapers in more than the back!

I hope this is helpful at all, I just came up with it in my head, so it may not work lol
