Another grandma-esque crochet post. All of my craft supplies are currently being shipped to me since i moved; so i went to my grandma asking if she had any crochet things i could use :joy: ive been going through withdrawals.

She gives me this

Ive never used such tiny thread or hooks, but i need to busy my hands so im trying it!
Progress so far-

That would be such a cool project :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
This has given me a huge appreciation for doily work! Its not too bad tbh as long as you know the stitches, the biggest challenge is just the size.

what size hook are you using, out of curiosity?

I /think/ its a 1.5 mm. This pattern called for a size 8 and i was lucky enough to find one already here. Im not familiar with the smaller sizes at all

ah neither am i  but there’s a first for everything i suppose

I found this if its helpful at all  im sure you could do it! If the one your after making is super intricate you could start out small. Im sure theres beginner patterns for this type stuff somewhere!

after looking at it, the doily seems to be all chains and double crochet, but i really appreciate the chart! I’ll definitely save that for future use

It looks like it’s coming along great!! That’s gonna be so cool when you’re all finished!

Yeah its not really different from granny square type work. Good luck if/when you take on yours!

Beautiful work! I use a 0.4mm hook for my micro-crochet, so I know all about the size learning curve lol

1.5mm is tiny, but a great start for people learning either lace work or micro-crochet.

Thank you! 0.4 is insane :joy: that sounds so tiny.

Id love to get into it more! Im glad she had the old kit laying around opened up new possibilities of other things to make.

Id love to know how it turns into a tree! I love this size. I think im using this same yarn with a 1.25mm hook. Looks like scheepjes sugar rush or rico essential thread. Ive never used it fir any other than mini amigurumi though. I just finished medusa in green :)
