This pattern uses almost a full skein of Parfait Chunky yarn for the shell color, so have about 130 yards for the main color on hand!

Quick question: would we have to use felt for the eyes, or would it be okay to crochet them instead using a thin cotton yarn (I’ve done this before and it worked well)

You can do whatever you want with the eyes, I just like the felt look but if you want to crochet them that’s fine!

There is some sewing, but most of the sewn pieces are small so it’s pretty quick.
