Coasters

Hi,
So my husband and I just bought our first home… we have a lot going on and my focus is on the kitchen right now because I love cooking.
I want to crochet a lot of things for the house. I want to start with coasters. My question is what kind of yarn would be best and hold up. I would also like the coasters to match (color wise) whatever table runner I make for my dining table.

I would recommend 100% cotton yarn :upside_down_face:

I second the cotton recommendation… it also makes nice trivets/hot pads

You’ve already got your answer but I just wanted to add on that cotton is perfect because it absorbs liquid! Enjoy your home! How exciting :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Cotton because if you have a hot cup of liquid it won’t burn

Thank y’all so much!! Today my brother in law and his wife plus my sister came over to help hang things up while my husband did some yard work he’s been wanting to do since we moved in.
Today the house started to feel a little more like a home with things hung up. We still have more to hang but I first have to find them.
I’m going to try to find some cotton yarn here in my town but the stores I’ve gone to are mostly acrylic.
I have 2 colors I’m wanting to do for coasters and my table runner. Black and teal (they were our wedding colors and also the colors I’m planning for my kitchen.
I’m just not sure what size yarn to get. I know I don’t want them too thick.

For coasters you want a bit thicker, so Medium/4 is good… For a table runner you can use anywhere from a Thread to a Medium/4… Personally I don’t like using the really thin Thread, but I love use Fine/1
