Costume!

Hello everyone! I’m super new to sewing and i was wondering if anyone maybe has any tips?

I’m making a costume for a dress up day at school and the theme is movies so….I’m doing Judy Hopps from Zootopia! I’ll show my inspiration and the shirt I found. The reason this is in sewing is because I’m gonna fix the top up a bit and hand sew some patches on it to make it more policey loll! Anyways any tips or ideas for the costume would be great!

Thank you everyone

Edit: I got my first patch sewn on! I think im going to sew on buttons! Here’s the shirt with the first patch!!:

The black things on there are little wrist things I made out of old gloves!

Your outfit looks super cute! I love the inspo!

Since your sewing on a badge I would recommend using a whip stitch around the border of the badge in a matching thread color. Sewing through the border thread will be much easier than going through the main badge since they tend to be very thick.

This video goes over the basics of how to do the whip stitch.

Oh my word, I love your costume, it looks so good.

Also, P.S., Judy Hopps was one of my number one favorite Disney characters when I was little
