Guys it’s kind of working omg

Not done yet, but we’re getting there.
Sorry about the bad lighting, it’s pretty late. I’ll post a photo when it’s done. I’ll plan on releasing the pattern soon! I’m honestly shocked it’s working as well as it is.
Hopefully I can make one in some fluffy yarn sometime!

The moth in the lead photo is a felted model - there’s only one photo of the real poodle moth:

The photo was taken in 2009 by Kyrgyzstani zoologist Dr. Arthur Anker.

Bombyx mori, mentioned by @ThePoet1607 and likely the one the felted version was based on, is far more common but just as cute!

And this is mori’s colorful cousin Dryocampa rubicunda:

(Evolutionary biologist who specializes in invertebrates/genomics - I could go on forever lol)

Btw, Bombyx mori is also known as the domestic silk moth - their larvae (silk worms) can be purchased at reptile supply stores that sell live feeders if you want to have some of your own! (Fresh Mulberry leaves, the silk worm’s preferred food can be purchased online as well.)
