Hey, so I was in a crochet club at my school last semester and became close friends with the girl who runs the club. I plan on helping her run it this semester. Other than teaching people how to crochet and giving people free patterns they could make, we’re looking for some fun things we could do to make the experience better. Any ideas help and any comments are welcome!
every once in awhile you could give them a small Skein of yarn (like for a holiday)
Bring a variety of hooks for everyone to try and talk about the differences, similarities and cost of each hook.
Bring a variety of yarn fibers for them to try crocheting with. Discuss the differences, similarities, and cost as well as eco friendly options.
Maybe bring tunisian hooks for them to look at?
Have them make a washcloth using stitch markers to mark the first and last stitch of each row. Show how stitch markers help to keep the edges even and to “catch” those hard to see stitches. Maybe a chain of 25 ch 1, turn, start in second ch from hook mark 1st stitch with marker sc 24, put marker in last stitch, ch 1 turn Repeat for 15 rows . Discuss difference between rows and rounds.
Do a crochet along together could be fun. Make something together in your school colors.
maybe you could all make something within a theme. a tv show would prob be rly fun
