Iāve noticed a lot of crocheters hold with a pencil hold, and some say that it puts less strain on their wrist. Iām a knife crocheter, and when I try the pencil hold it hurts my wrist more. So, do you crochet with a

hold? Iām curious to see which one is more popular , or even if you have your own way

I hold the hook in my fistā¦ So knife hold if you were stabbingā¦ The last 3 fingers hold it and the first finger and thumb are on the flat piece and they only rotate the hook. My wrist never moves.

Oh I will NEVER hold it like a pencil, i already have wrist issues and thats far more strenuous for my wristsā¦I fear people who hold it like thatā¦Theyāre always the super fast crochetersā¦They have superpowersā¦

Ikr! I tried to pencil hold and I couldnāt figure out for the life of me how to do it

I use a knife hold, and have heard the opposite: pencil hold causes more wrist problems

Iāve tried both and Iāve found I prefer knife hold. The pencil hold just feels awkward to me and I feel like I have more control with a knife hold. I havenāt experienced wrist pain with either though

I donāt think I do either but Iām not sure. I have four fingers on the far side of the handle, thumb on my side with the hook head facing me. Maybe that is the knife grip? I move my hand but not my wrist when I work.
