I’ve noticed a lot of crocheters hold with a pencil hold, and some say that it puts less strain on their wrist. I’m a knife crocheter, and when I try the pencil hold it hurts my wrist more. So, do you crochet with a or hold? I’m curious to see which one is more popular , or even if you have your own way
I hold the hook in my fist… So knife hold if you were stabbing… The last 3 fingers hold it and the first finger and thumb are on the flat piece and they only rotate the hook. My wrist never moves.
I’m a serial crocheter hehehe
Oh I will NEVER hold it like a pencil, i already have wrist issues and thats far more strenuous for my wrists…I fear people who hold it like that…They’re always the super fast crocheters…They have superpowers…
Ikr! I tried to pencil hold and I couldn’t figure out for the life of me how to do it let alone crochet anywhere near that speed…
I do a combo I think. Now I’m all up in my head about it. I think I’m more of a though.
I use a knife hold, and have heard the opposite: pencil hold causes more wrist problems
Definitely knife for me too! So who cares what “most people” say- right now we’re the majority, and it works! (And I wouldn’t recommend arguing with a . )
I’ve tried both and I’ve found I prefer knife hold. The pencil hold just feels awkward to me and I feel like I have more control with a knife hold. I haven’t experienced wrist pain with either though
I see your and and raise you
Knife hold, tried pencil it hurts my wrist,
Always a pleasure to scare
I don’t think I do either but I’m not sure. I have four fingers on the far side of the handle, thumb on my side with the hook head facing me. Maybe that is the knife grip? I move my hand but not my wrist when I work.
Knife i think I’m not sure
Yeah, knife grip!
I do a hold
Knife grip here!
