As someone of Irish decent and a crocheter I have definitely heard of this time during the potato famine. Whole families learned to crochet, including the men and children. Crochet kept many families from starvation.:four_leaf_clover::yarn:

Yes, I’ve heard of this story. The English considered themselves “above” the Irish and Scottish and weren’t forthcoming when the Potato famine hit.
I think those poor Irish families probably like the slave camps of Shein.
They survived but they didn’t thrive.

no its really bad. im from england and i just dont get why the irish were left to starve? surely we all had enough food to share? :woman_shrugging:

Of course not, happens anywhere there is a ruling class. I only stated that because that what I was taught, but could be wrong. :flushed:

There most like was enough to share… There are some sources of that time who felt Ireland had far too many Irish people in it though :upside_down_face:
