not sure about patterns, but I’ve heard lion brand pound of love is good for sweaters (im gonna be using it for the one im ab to start)

I see similar ones on youtube, if you dont mind following a video.
Yarn wise it depends on how warm you want the sweater. I think in terms of being budget friendly and machine washable, acrylic yarn would be fine.
Maybe look for some anti-pill yarn if you plan on wearing it and washing often.

Here are some patterns I found. If you want you could change the length of the sleeves and change the color to make it striped.

And for yarn, I usually use the typical acrylic that they sell in any bazaar for 2 euros per 100g. I have also tried the Katia brand cotton ones, which are very good but I think they are around 4 euros for 100g (depending on the range).

Oh also for yarn, I think you should do an acrylic blend (acrylic wool, acrylic cotton, etc). Its more breathable than regular acrylic and still affordable! Keep in mind that acrylic is basically plastic and not good for warm days (not breathable);
You could also do a wool/cotton blend, as natural fibers are better for the enviroment and more breatheble (better for warmer days)
