Crochet Tips?

I’m so proud of my stitches on my current WIP. I saw a video where people do yarn under instead of yarn over and I’m loving it so far. It got me thinking, what’s everyone’s favorite tips for crocheting? :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Your stitches look so neat!! One of my favorite tips when changing colors is to do a magic knot. That way you don’t have to weave in the ends!

Wow your stitches look amazing! My favourite tip is instead of using a big hook and super tight tension, use a smaller hook and use a bit looser tension so you don’t hurt your hands as much!

I’ll for sure have to look that one up! I hate weaving in the ends. :joy:

This is a super helpful tip. Took me awhile to figure it out. I wish I would have known when I started.

my favorite tip is using the ch 2 method instead of a magic ring. for whatever reason i just can’t make a magic ring, acrylic or plush yarn lol

This is common sense but beginner me didn’t know not to cut the yarn after every single color change in tapestry crochet… I tried to make a frog coaster and it looks like a fuzzy and unraveling mess
Also, use inv dec and something smaller than a 4 mm hook for small yarn (weight 3 to thinner weight 4) so that your stuffing doesn’t show everywhere (I have a very specific elephant in mind rn)

When doing magic circles with chenille, instead of

  1. 6 sc into mc (6)
  2. (inc) x6 (12)
  3. (Inc, sc) x6 (18)
  4. (Inc, 2 sc) x6 (24)

Do this instead:

  1. 12 sc (12)
  2. (Inc, 2sc) x6 (18)

Of course you don’t always want a rounded edge, but it helps when you do. And it doesn’t have to be 6, it can be similar numbers as well.
