Crocheting speed

Hey everyone! Just curious—how fast do you naturally stitch? I tend to clock around 30 single crochets a minute without trying, but a lot of people make me feel like I’m ā€˜racing’ or going too fast even when I’m in my lowest gear. Am I alone in moving at this pace, or are there other high-speed crocheters out there? :yarn:

I used to crochet super fast as well. Only stopped because I have hEDS and it was killing my hands/wrists.

Even now, with what I think is a fairly slow speed (at lwast in comparison to my old speed, I still can’t go to crochet club without at least one lady going ā€œWow! You crochet so fast!ā€

I’ve never thought of it as a race, but it does get annoying when the people around me try to imply that I’m racing

You have made me feel so much better  It’s mostly been family members who imply I’m ā€œracing,ā€ so it’s such a relief to talk to someone who actually gets that it’s not a contest—we’re just naturally in our flow.

I definitely hear you on the joint and nerve pain, though. I deal with cubital tunnel syndrome in my main crochet arm, so I have to be really mindful—taking rest days when needed and intentionally designing my patterns around the weight of the piece to keep the strain down.

Thank you for validating that. It really helps knowing I’m not the only fast-paced stitcher out there navigating joint care.

I have been told I am fast, but u don’t know how many stitches/minute I do. I feel like I naturally am faster :)

Cool, I only ever clocked myself so I’d know if I could finish my row before work.:two_hearts:

I am a pretty quick crochet, whipping up a chicken nugget mini plushie in 5 minutes
