I completely agree! I made a dragon with white Bernat Blanket and itās soo soft!! Its probably one of my favorite projects Iāve ever made
That is so funny and sweet, hahaha! I actually realized after the fact a much easier way to do it would probably be to make only 5 panels, one with an opening for the tissue box top and then seam the panels accordingly, leaving the bottom of the cube open for easy refilling. I ended up making a sort of hinged lid for my box and using a button for added security, but I might experiment with the other method and let you know!
oooh iāll definitely try that, thanks!!
Thank you! @craftycellist
@foxfrogandfern it feels like every completed project that I used to destash is a reward the completed top looks amazing! The turtle tissue holder also came out amazing! Love the pun for the dragon! Hope to see the final product for it when you do get to finish take all the time you need!
The colors for the bag look good! Also excited for the final results photo as well, also I love the deer snuggler!! I helped test the pattern too I love their patterns the colors are really beautiful too! Those coasters look amazing! Also love the colors for snowi!
Wow, all the stuff youāve made is so cuteee!!! I love the colors you chose for the sweater :] and the snowmanā
I was one of the testers for the Delilah dragon, and I adoreee it! It was so fun to make, and I loved using it as a challenge for myself
Iām making stockings too! I plan to make 12 total, 6 red and 6 green, to turn into an advent calender. Iām also making an advent calender with mittens. Iām exactly halfway through both now (not counting the garlands themselves, but theyāll be mainly chains).
How long did that stocking take to make? It looks really cute! These have been taking me 40-50 minutes, and theyāre just big enough to hold a gift card.
Summary
Iāve very slightly modified both of these, the stockings to be one round larger, and the mittens adjusted to better match the stocking designs, but these were the base patterns:
Thank you! Your stockings are adorable!! I love the ones with the white toes. I think my stocking took about 30 minutes since itās a bit smaller than yours. I just freehanded the stocking or else I would link the pattern.
Thanks! & itās really cool that you were able to freehand that stocking, especially so fast!
The last week of No Buy November (whaaaaat) and we are working with texture this week; a little or a lot - itās up you! Think of texture as that aspect which makes you want to reach out and touch something or pulls you into a work. You can do this in a myriad of ways, but two simple ways to invite texture into your pieces is through your yarn choice and/or stitches.
Iāll be back later to respond and deliver inspo, but feel free to check out the inspo post from New Stitch week which has a lot of crossover examples
Happy stitching my friends
this may finally give me the motivation i need to finish my friendās birthday gift
Oooh I have some scrubby eyelash yarn I can use
Yay! I hope it does! I canāt wait to see what you made them ^.^
Oooh Iām excited to see what you do with it; I was thinking of using mine for this project too!
I forgot to add to the original post, but another great way to add texture is with ruffles and layering!
Hereās a roundup of some inspo that is by no means exhaustive! As always Iām eager to see your contributions this week!
Forgot to share! Still working on the blanket but worked up a quick pin display for a gift! Used a 5.00MM hook and double stranded two different color yarns from Crafterās square
I also remembered I had some plush yarn still set aside for my knit octopus amigurumi and decided to finish that first and use the leftover yarn for the blanket! Double stranded the night sky Just yarn plush and using DPNās (3 +1 working needle) to work in the round my US 8 5.00mm finished my tentacles and just working in the head/belly! This fits well with the texture both for the plush yarn and bobbles for the other side
Interesting yarn would probably be a scrubby yarn that I used to make an amigurumi and I think the loop stitch created the most intriguing texture to me
I donāt really have a stash to bust. Otherwise, Iām always up for a challenge!
I donāt know where that last week of November went! I didnāt end up using my chenille yarn for a project (yet) as I had initially planned for texture week. However, I wasnāt unproductive either. I finally finished the two advent calendar garlands:
So thatās two gifts done from my list, and almost another full skein of white used up. I may actually have to visit a yarn store again before the year ends!
Moths & Ladybugs
Then, as a treat to myself for getting those done, I worked some more on my rosy maple moth pattern.
Which Iām very pleased with it! The pastels donāt photograph particularly well, so I did the brighter version next. In the bottom picture you can also see the face of the wingless-prototype.
I honestly didnāt realize it was December already until I saw a notification for the first day of ComplicatedKnots 12 Days of Crochet/Bugsmas. So I made these two ladybugs today from that pattern today:

Iāve still got a handful of crochet gifts to work on, but Iāve cut back on how many people will be getting something homemade this year, so it shouldnāt be unmanageable.
~Wishing everyone a productive (or relaxing, your choice) month!
I made a pencil case (im probably going to use it for my hooks tho)
I used hdc and dc and then did surface crochet for more detail!!
Welcome to the final month of this stashbusting challenge: De-Stash December!
I hope youāve all been having fun and thank you for sticking around. This last month we are going to be largely focusing on the feeling and intention of our makes rather than any specific techniques, construction, genre, or materials. Remember that although this is a challenge meant to encourage you to work with what youāve already got, itās incredibly low-stress - donāt fret if you buy more yarn. Youāre welcome here whether you havenāt purchased a skein this entire year or youāre practically bathing in your incredible Black Friday loot. Youāre also welcome to share your destashed makes that arenāt āon themeā; we love to see it all.
For this first week of creating, we are working with the theme of Festive! It can be something seasonal, related to a specific celebration/holiday, or just hold a special sort of energy, whether itās your project, your yarn, the atmosphere while creating, or any combination thereof - all are fair game!
Have fun with this one; itās meant to keep the spirits high!
If you need more guidance or suggestions, let me know
(Apologies for my absence; Iāve been swamped with work and am still battling this nasty flu. Going to get back to you all today, though!)
Ooooh I can use this prompt with Christmas presents!!
As it should be! That made my heart smile, though; Iām delighted your projects were all rewarding! And thank you so much for the kind words - I hope Iām able to get grooving on the dragon because Iād love to see it finished also
Kovaās patterns are so amazing! I loved your adorable Rudolph! And Iām lowkey mesmerized by the coasters, haha. Itās so simple a stitch pattern, but the payoff is great. Thank you again for the lovely remarks on my projects <3
Thank you very much! The sweater was made with L&T Facets yarn. Iām just enamored with their colorways; they always work up beautifully. Iām super curious to knit with this yarn. Iāve only done it once before, but it was in a drop stitch style so the full variegation was slightly obscured to my eye, if that makes sense.
Oh! I need to check out the tester gallery so I can see your take on the dragon! Itās a great challenge piece for sure.
Thatās amazing work! Crocheted advent calendars are so darling and your pieces are coming out so cute. Iām excited to see your finished piece if you decide to share! (I admire your dedication, too; I made one last year, and I remember just how much work it was.)
Thank you fo sharing the patterns, as well! Iāll definitey be checking them out
