Does anybody speed crochet?

I have been told I crochet as fast as lightning but I feel slower than other speed crocheters. A lot of people love watching me put together blankets. I started one last Wednesday and now I’m on the last skein. Anyone else this does this? How fast does something take you to complete your works?

There’s also nothing wrong with being slow. In the beginning I must have.

What happened to make it so you are slower?

I am speed crochet if its a repetitive motion, but if its increase and decrease a bunch it takes longer. I love tapered hooks bc the yarn slips off as fast as i move!

I love working with Susan Bates hooks a lot of the time. When I work with Boye hooks, I fumble and a little less fast.

Sorry to hear that.

apparently i do. i was out in a cafe crocheting squares for a cardigan when i noticed two ladies watching me. and at first i was like this is normal cuz not many people see teens crochet much so i’m sure they were stunned, but later they came up to me and were like,” omg wow you crochet so fast! making me jealous” and i was so happy that they thought i was fast even though i don’t feel fast. you know? but anyway maybe when we’re deep in crochet we enter a realm of speed or something

Me too. I do own at least two Boye hooks but it’s better for me when I do bigger projects with them.

It could be that.

Wow, you are really fast! :hushed:
I’ve been making a cardigan since September, but I haven’t finished it yet… (okay, it’s not all I ever do)
I’ve been crocheting for about 1 year and then I’m better. But I still feel very slow.
I would like to be a fast crocheter myself one day.

YT has a lot of tips on crocheting fast. Mine is just because I’ve been doing it a lot since I learned at 20. I have a lot of time on my hands so naturally I got faster. Some people learn sooner depending on skill.

I never considered myself to be fast just average but I guess others don’t see it that way. I’ve been knitting and crocheting for over 25 years. Mid 30s  but I finished a queen size blanket for my sister in 3 days. And a knit baby blanket in 6 days. That’s not to say I wasn’t close to flatlining
