Doily appreciation post!!!

Found my great-grandmother’s doily collection.
I didn’t even know she crocheted!

Wanted to share some of my favorites!
She made everything from handkerchief borders to entire tablecloths!

So sweet. I have some aprons. Do a search for doily wall art for ways to display them. Here’s a sample I just found.

Oh wow! That’s amazing! My grandma crocheted too, she made amazing pieces, I wish I still had photos or something.

I see,
I bet! The yarn she was using (I don’t even know if i’d call it yarn) was SOOOO thin!

They’re gorgeous! I love the second one especially, the coloring is just so subtle.

The crochet thread comes in colors that are formulated to do that

The top one looks like it’s from the 80s,the bottom one looks like the 40s or 50s and the one in the middle looks like it’s from the 60s
Those are mostly just dc, dc cluster, and chain spaces.

It won’t let me add another comment,

“Pansy Doily” American Thread Company 1952
The top one is a generic pineapple doily but it looks like it was in the huge Leisure Arts doily book that was published the late 80s/early 90s, those were called “luncheon” sets and were supposed to be used at the place setting during a luncheon
And that center one…, that could be from any time and even freehand and meant to cover a small round side table

Was thinking red or dark purple since every piece of furniture to put them on I own is already black or dark brown :rofl::rofl:

Really? Sure you don’t want black on black?
My favorite colors as a teen were black and purple. Red, ugh?! Reminds of my mother.

While black on black is nice, I do like some contrast :stuck_out_tongue: plus most my home decor is red :drop_of_blood: hehehe
