Soooo it finally happened, I signed up for a market!!! Well… kinda a market, it’s more like a small sale idk it’s at a community center (so it’s inside!) but it was free, and there are only 20 spots available and I got one! I’m so happy, it’s called the fall festival craft market so I’m excited to see what people bring to sell! It’s 3hrs long so I’m hoping to sell at least some stuff, it’s on the 19th of November so I do have a few weeks to prep.
Most of the stuff I will be bringing is old things I made that my parents have really wanted me to sell but let’s just say I don’t like most of the old things I made so there is gonna be a lot of like $5-10 things just to see if they will sell
Anyway
I do have a small list of things I want to make for it
But I also feel not prepared like at all because I’m kind of doing this to see if I like it at all and if I would do more so I’m trying not to buy anything more if possible like crates or shelves for a setup which brings up my first question
Do you think I need a way to pay with card? Or do you think that cash (and possibly Venmo) would be enough?
Is there any specific holiday things you think I should make for it?
I have to bring my own table and I think I’ve figured out how I want to do that but how should I set up everything? Because like I said I don’t want to buy other things so I think I have some baskets and honestly that’s about it but I do have a few acrylic boxes I could put things in
But do you think it would be fine to not have much height variation? Obviously if I start doing markets I will buy more things but as this is kind of just trying it out I don’t want to spend much and just have it Kaya round then
If there is something that you think I really should get I will look into it
Should I get bags?
Because I don’t have any good bags to use for giving people things in and since most of my stuff is small I feel like I would need rly small bags for it not to look proportional weird
(Btw I will probably have more questions)
Ty all for reading this absolute wall of text

I don’t think you need good bags, just some avalible if they ask, and you should probably get Venmo, but Venmo and cash should be enough. Also candy cane patterns would be really cute!
I have only done cash and venmo so far and have done shows for around 10 years. I will probably eventually get a card reader. I would say yes to bags, but not vital to have. Maybe could find some for cheap on Amazon?
I think Venmo and cash should be enough. Most people will probably bring cash anyways to these types of events.
You could make thanksgiving stuff and Christmas themed stuff.
Yes you should get bags! You don’t need super cool bags just plain paper bags will do. The ones with the handles are the best and probably in multiple sizes that can be coordinated with different sized items.
Congrats!!! You’ll have so much fun.
I can’t recommend a $5 bin enough. Always my best seller.
You definitely don’t need a huge set up, I started without one! Just have a cute and inviting display. Use things around the house if you can!
Definitely provide as many payment options as possible. I recommend at least cash and Venmo, if not card (via Square)
I think more winter/fall things! Those are more versatile and can be sold more of the year, instead of just around one holiday. Snowman, leaves, pumpkins, trees… All good options.
Have as much height as you can, but again, you’ll still sell without it!
YES. Get bags. I recommend clear plastic, so others can see your work from afar. They’re pretty cheap on Amazon, you can get soooo many for only $10-$20
Don’t worry too much about the bag to plushie size, it’s really not that big a deal.
Good luck, and feel free to dm me with more questions!
If you’re selling big stuff, yes get bags but if it’s just little stuff you don’t really need to, also for the payment I only use cash, and e-transfer and at my last market I made $800 so just do what you’re comfortable with
