foundation double crochet ends look yucky

hello all!

is there any trick that can be used to make fdc row start and end more even? it always kinda ends up looking like a trapezoid  (no offense to trapezoids unless they’re trespassing on my crochet projects :pouting_cat:)

i’ve included a very beautiful illustration (lol) for reference as well as a photo of one of the ends in question.

i know it’s the nature of this type of stitch, but is there anything i can add to my first and last stitch while working them or after i’m done?

it seems if i thread the respective tails through the first stitch itself (shown below) & chain of last stitch, it finishes it off a bit nicer with a more rounded and even end. this does act as one solution, but i am interested in seeing if anyone knows of something that can maintain sharper cornerns like a regular chain and double crochet row would.

What technique are you using? When I tried it came out relatively straight.
