-free pattern/testing suggestion-

This had to do with the free patterns and testing said pattern.
So when you test a pattern, the designer gives you a pattern. Where my problem comes in is that it uses up your free patterns for that 24 hours. My suggestion is to make those completely seperate things and the testing patterns not count towards your free pattern limit of that day

I agree. The testing patterns you get shouldn’t be counted towards the regular free pattern count

When testing a pattern, do all designers give you the pattern? I have had several that just say thanks but you don’t actually get anything for your time.

Agree testing should be separate from free patterns

Thats not cool of them, that means you didnt get the karma that you were supposed to

I don’t test, so have no idea

Is it a ā€œruleā€ that a designer ā€œhas toā€ provide a free copy of the pattern to a tester that has successfully completed the pattern test, or is it just a common practice for them to do that?

Certainly if they initially promise to provide the pattern for free to the testers then definitely should follow through with that

I never thought it was a ā€œrule.ā€ Usually the designers choice. But since Karma points have been incorporated I am not too sure. I personally have always gifted my testers the pattern when completed

Totally agree

Its not a rule, but testers should be at least gifted the pattern for their time. I know when I run an IG pattern test, i give my testers a final copy of the pattern and offer a freebie pattern.

When testing for you I have always received the pattern and have enjoyed all the opportunities that I have had to test for you and other designers as well. I just wasn’t sure if it was a rule or optional.

If you dont gift then the pattern after their done the test (on here) they dont get the karma points

So I’ve found out. As I don’t test, I don’t acquire nor keep track of those.

If I was a designer (I’m not) I would tend to want to see the quality of the potential tester’s work rather than just choose whoever had a higher points total.

It’s probably why I don’t bother designing, too much work

Thanks for your suggestion! It has been logged.

Im thinking that those designers might assume that since you have the pattern to test, that you HAVE the pattern?? I am newer, so I haven’t been chosen to officially test, I mean through the tester portion of the app, so Im not sure how the pattern comes to you for testing.

Does the pattern ā€˜disappear’ after you submit the test? Lol, Inquiring minds wanna know  :joy:
