Sometimes I think about what instructions for crocheting, knitting, etc. would look like to people who don’t do it…
must look like we had a stroke while we were typing
ch, tch, slst, sts, mr, sc, dc, dec, inc – you get the idea
it must look like absolute gibberish to them 
edit: sent something to my boyfriend to see what he would think about it…
I mean, at least he tried

Well, it is kind of a formula…
My mom hates it when I try to show her crochet instructions, lol. She always says she doesn’t know how I understand all that.
it’s so funny to think about how their faces would contort in confusion if we gave them a pattern and said nothing

my mom used to crochet, but I doubt she’d remember how to read em… and as for the math, the only way she got through math in high school was by cheating off her cousin! 
she doesnt know anything about the topics after algebra I
all she had to know to get by as a nurse was basic math like multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction
so i’m positive that she’d have no idea what this means… i’ll show her a pattern now and see what she says

me: “hey ma, do you know what this is?”
mom: sits there for 2 minutes trying to read it … “well, ch is chain… hmm. oh! st! isn’t that stitch?”
me: “it is!”
mom: “that’s all I got. i don’t know what any of this means. not at all.”

we can understand all of this while the lesser mortals can’t 
yeah, we’re just too smart for them smoothed brain mortals

crocheting in class is so fun but my English teacher has a grudge against me because of it
