Help in surviving a transphobic household?

Hey folks :]
its been a hot minute since I’ve last been here on ribblr but im back!! *yaaayy*
So here’s the deal: as the title kinda says, i live in an extremly homo/transphobic household (im also homeschooled), my parents are super conservative and religious (aaand emotionally abusive…)… and im transmasc n nonbinary ‘-’ i havent come out to them (things here are already pretty tense as they are), so i have to constantly lie about/hide myself, but it has come to a point where im so dysphoric sometimes it makes me physically ill/not able to sleep. it hurts a lot too. like, A LOT. everyrhing summed makes it really hard for me to feel comfortable in who i am.
so, yeah. if you have any advice on navigating these complex feelings, dealing with dysphoria, or really just your personal experience with being trans/coming out i’d really love to hear it :]
sorry if this isnt the right place for this (and also for the long post x_x), feel free to correct me. love to y’all and stay safe <333

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it sounds like it sucks, isn’t fair, and is overall just a rough situation.

I’m afraid that I don’t have a bunch of advice to give, other than reminding you that your identity and feelings are valid and that you deserve better. :growing_heart:

Finding a safe person to come out to about your struggles and sexuality can be helpful to increase confidence in yourself and a person may be able to support you in other ways, wether this be a sibling, friend, or random person on the internet .

I hope things improve for you!:orange_heart::yellow_heart::green_heart::blue_heart::purple_heart:

Ok so if you can, you should download webtoon and read the comic “The Recloseted Lesbian” it’s a really good comic, very informative. And I think it might help you out in this situation, or at least you’ll have something to relate to. If that’s not a possibility, journaling has helped me with similar things! Hope this helps and good luck!! :white_heart:

i don’t have any advice; but i just wanted to say that im sorry about your situation. also, you do not HAVE to come out if you feel as if you’re not ready.

thanks for all your kind words <333 i appreciate it :]
i have been trying to gather the courage to tell some people about it. its hard tho cuz given my small circle of allowed relationships theres no one who is accepting/supporting, since theyre all conservative christians x_x
except my cousin, that i have come out to her already and she supports me <3 that was awesome; buuut she lives in the USA, so… :[

yes, i havent come out to my family because it really isnt safe. its just that it comes to a point where you just so desperately wish someone would know, that someone would hug you and tell you its ok, and be able to be yourself for once in your life

Im sorry your going through this :[

I’m also homeschooled, transmasc and nb. I’m yet to come out to my parents, I dont know if they’re supportive or not :[ i have too lied a lot about myself, i guess we have a lot in common TwT

I also have extreme dysorphia :[ Ive been kinda handling it with songs I relate too ( the song artist is Cavetown, 100/10 recommend btw :>), but I know thats not for everyone. the way I handle these strong feelings is with time, and I can personally assure you with time things will make a small bit more of sense :^

I’m sorry I dont have more advice TvT but you gotta stay safe too, ;]

Heyy. I’ve had a little experience in transphobic/homophobic family members, not this severe though. But here is my advise.
1.Focus on getting out as soon as you turn legal age, ex. Saving money, connections to safe people
2. Try to get out * of the house without parents if able
3. Good supportive friends, online or irl.
4. Journal your feelings, that really helps me, even of you rip it up afterwards

As for the gender dysphoria here is what I suggest: If you are able/want to bind, you can make homemade, BUT be careful if that is the main issue for you. Or do you have a therapist? They are legally (if in the us, idk about other places) bound to confidentiality. They are not allowed to tell anyone about what happens in the sessions unless it is about harm to yourself or others so you don’t have to tell your parents why, you could tell them something else.

Hope this helps, feel free to message me if you want and GL. Stay Safe, and You matter. You will get through this.
