Help selling patterns

Hello!:waving_hand:t2:

I’m planning to sell patterns in the future. I have a few questions about that. You have to connect to a Stripe account, right? But to sell in general, do you need to set up some kind of side business or pay taxes or anything like that? Can someone who also sells patterns help me? What did you have to do? Do you really just need to sign up for Stripe?

Yours, Mimi

I don’t personally sell patterns but i know that any money made off of things like this has to be taxed. But it only happens after you make a certain amount of money. The lowest I’ve seen is $600 dollars. But after you make whatever amount of money the limit is, that’s when you have to start paying taxes for it.

Hey I sell patterns!

So yes I think you just need to sign into Stripe( it took forever! ( like 5 mins)) and Ribblr collects the royalties so you don’t have to pay taxes ( I think). It is 4% or 25c minimum! Hope this helps

Actually, what Ribblr charges for royalties is for using their site to sell. You will still need to pay personal taxes for whatever your area requires, as @KaylaCrafterFrog16 stated

Keep in mind that stripe does not work in certain countries and you many need to be of a certain age to use stripe

Oh sorry!

Okay, thanks to everyone for the explanation.

But do you need to register a secondary business for general sales?

Some people do. I just sell at craft shows and honestly don’t have an official business because I am usually well under the selling $ limit. If you plan on selling a lot and making it an honest business, you might want to consider making if official! As far as for Ribblr sales you don’t need a business

Thank you so much:heart:
