i want to make some sunflower granny squares but i’m having a hard time.
whenever i go to slip-stitch the row back together it always just looks odd and stretched out- and i don’t like the way it looks when i chain the first stitch (such as a ch 3 for a dc)
i end up being able to tell where i start and end because there’s either an odd gap or a lump or just something odd- any of ice or alternate ways??

Im working on a sunflower granny square right now. So i get what your saying. Have you tried to slst into the first double crochet?
The only other thing i can suggest is trying to make a double crochet instead of a chain three.

Sounds good i can even take a photo of the one im working on tomorrow. This is my first time making these squares too lol. Im making a bag and have 8 left to make

nicee!! i would love to see it haha. i actually just found another tutorial on youtube where she does it differently than i’ve seen before- so i think i will try that out tmw! it definitely seems to work better haha

I always ch 2 and then dc as the first dc. I’ve found the same problem whenever I count the first ch 3 as a dc

I use alternate turning chain instead of chain 3, and count as first DC. It works in many projects but not this granny square I gave up on. It doesn’t look right.
(Nothing wrong with pattern).

I always just chain one less than what the pattern says to do

hey! i know this is a bit of an old convo- but could i see how your blanket it turning out so far! i’m a tad discouraged about mine and my ability (and life in general) and i think it could help me get inspired again!

Instead of starting with 3ch, have you tried starting with a standing dc?
