Hi! Any tips for making patterns?

Hi! I’m planning on (trying) to make a pattern of my turtle- cheyenne. But I need some tips. I’m also going to look everywhere for tips and such. Maybe I’ll release it- but only if I could make such pattern. I’m also new to making patterns- and my brain is in a constant mood of making one.
Here are some pics.

Hopefully this doesn’t bother you! Have a good night/day! :sparkles::heart::two_hearts::teddy_bear::turtle:

How hard would making such pattern of my turtle be?

It definitely depends on how detailed it will be, but I don’t think it will be too hard!

Making a pattern is not easy but it’s not hard! ā€œ trust the processā€ is what I live by!:slightly_smiling_face:ā€:arrow_up_down::yum::slightly_smiling_face:

five months old ? I had a turtle tortilla, my aunt had given him/her to me (we never new the gender) and she was very small like the size of my palm, she never grew in size, we had to giveher away eventually because my mom was throwing up (was pregnant and didn’t know it) and blamed my turtle for giving her salmonella

Mine? It’s 6 in. It takes 10 yrs for once to mature i think, so the size’s accurate.

My pattern designing process is pretty simple:

First, I break the subject down into simple shapes. Amigurumi can be broken down into spheres, eggs, cylinders, cones, doughnuts, etc. and instructions for how to crochet those shapes can be readily found online.

Once I have it broken down into shapes, I figure out how best to join those shapes together. Sometimes this is as simple as sewing, but I try to join with crochet whenever possible. Often, this step is done while I’m making the prototype.

I write the pattern as I’m crocheting the prototype - I just jot down each round/step right before I crochet it using pencil and a notebook.

There is a LOT of frogging and erasing along the way, and it’s not unusual for me to scrap the whole project and start over from scratch.
