How do i clothing

Hello! Im being the over achieving person that I am and have now decided to crochet myself a dress or a top for my eighth grade graduation. I have never made clothes before and would need some advice.
Question one: what is the best dress pattern you have used?
Question two: What tips for creating clothing do you have
Question three: When should I start?
Question four: what is your favorite top pattern you have used

I’ve made exactly 1 tank top and here’s all i got - make sure if it’s a pattern with multiple sizes you’re reading the right one, otherwise you gotta restart and it’s a whole mess. for when to start, if you have plenty of free time most of the time, you could probably wait until a month or two before graduation, but if you normally don’t have much free time, I’d start now and work on it gradually

You should start months before for a dress

I have made a dress before so here are tips,

1: My favorite pattern is the sweet pea dress by highlevelbandanas
2: Make sure you buy all the yarn you need before you start making it
3: Mine took 6 months to make so start VERY early
4: My favorite top was a fruit top from autumnolivecrochet

Hope this helps <333

  1. I haven’t made any dresses before, but I would look on Etsy or ravelry for one.
  2. Use the right yarn, and make sure you have the correct gage as the pattern.
  3. I would start very soon because dresses will take up a lot of time considering how big it needs to be and the yarn needed!
  4. I’ve never used a pattern for clothing, the one I made was freehanded :sob:
