I need help!!! Hexagon sweater (Decided!! Thx)

Heyyy guys! So I’m freehanding this hexagon sweater (hopefully pattern coming soon) and I can’t decide what hem to do around the bottom. Sc ribbing like the sleeves, or a hdc band like the neck. I also want to block it, which I’ve never done before, so any tips are welcome!

I think the sleeves are great how they are! (We can’t see them really good, but I really like sc ribbings on sleeves)

Looks great! Sc ribbing would look good!

yeah i was going to say that :sob: it depends on the look you want!! i feel like ribbing is only better when you kinda decrease in, which also makes it more cropped… it depends on the length you want the sweater to be!!

Oooh maybe I should add two decrease rows and then ribbing

yeah!! depending on how you want it to decrease :D

another idea:
i also made the iris cropped hoodie recently - it has sc ribbing in the pattern :) - i didn’t decrease, so it puffed out weirdly, so i put elastic through the leftover front loops on the inside!! so that it cinched :D

When I made mine, I used a moss stitch for the bottom, the collar and for the pockets. Oh! I also wanted cuffed sleeves so, I gathered them, decreasing to make them a good fit and used the moss stitch for the cuffs as well.

Ohh I love the color and it looks great! So impressive you freehanded it! For blocking I would generally recommend lightly steaming it if that’s available to you as it works well with a variety of fibers; you can either use a garment steamer or an iron with a stesm function, using a towel or something iron-safe to create a barrier (for protection). However if you go that route, definitely research how to go about it and double check if it’s okay for your yarn because if you’re too heavy handed with it you can “kill” the fibers.

I’v also seen a lot of people do a method where they drench the garment in water, then lay it down on a towel and gently roll it up and press on the towel to eat up some of the moisture. After most of the water has been pressed out you then lay in your desired shape and let it dry (pinning it down is optional). In my experience this method definitely works better with certain fibers.

Its really cute! I think sc ribbing would look really good or like the how sone people make beanies. I think its dc one row, slst the next, alternate back and fourth. I think that will only work if you chain then sc2tog at the “base”. Sorry if that doesnt make any sense
