So… I have lots of patterns , but only three are on market. Plus lots of ppl make harsh journals (in testing) before i get to fix it :((
I just want to say to @ribblr , how do we get our testers to ACTUALLY finish the pattern or do I just have a problem withmy patterns and i cant make any without having to give testers a whole year to finish a small pattern? Imjust saying that i would like to have people just admit that they cant do it instead of waiting a month to actually start. Sometimes im disappointed when only three patterns are in my shop and not a lot of peoplecan see and enjoy the patterns except for waiting months for something small ://
Please help me ribblr !!!
Edit; im just complaining about the unfairness :((
All thebest, Nightpool
Please don’t tag Ribblr twice also you could say on the tester calls smth abt all criticism in the gc not the journals
Ok, that makes sense, but i do believe that others are struggling with this too
Also, why not tag ribblr twice?
Don’t annoy them, you’ve already tagged them once (and I think Ribblr goes through all the posts anyways so they’ll see this)
Ohhhhh makes sense!
What I would recommend is finding people who have quite a bit of karma OR people who seem polite in other posts ( like @Bobacat123, she was really helpful and kind, and helped me fix ALL the errors in my pattern) ! You should also make sure that the pattern is semi in order before posting a tester call, and that your pics show the completed product for example your summer valley snake didn’t and that can get you less testers! ( not trying to call you out or be rude
) and its also totally fine to say that you will reject them from the test and/ or not let them apply for future tests if they just randomly disappear on two tests and don’t tell you why they didn’t or can’t finish!
Also, with the “wait a whole month before starting” thing, some people apply BECAUSE they see a long time before the due date and they’re like “okay I don’t have time in the next few weeks but after this date I’ll be free to work on it” so it’s less of a “oh haha I’ll abuse the long deadline they gave me” and more of a “how can I make this fit into my schedule” kind of thing
Obviously, this isn’t the case for EVERYONE, but I have seen numerous complaints about the issue and I wanted to address it. If you want faster completion, set a closer due date instead (which may also motivate procrastinators as well, if they actually have time to do so)
It’s definitely a case by case basis, but for the most part people aren’t trying to avoid testing out of spite :'D
I agree with your post, though I do want to remark that only picking people who already have karma points isn’t really fair for ‘newbies’ … For example, I’ve already applied for a lot of testings, but never got picked, which is like a ‘you need experience before working but can’t get experience without working’ kinda thing. So yes to the watching out part, but give newbies a chance too
I think some people apply for a test (maybe more than one test, and perhaps more tests than they should), see the month deadline and think they can finish everything but perhaps things happen, maybe they procrastinate or perhaps school or family commitments come up unexpectedly and then they run out of time.
Perhaps they feel bad about it but are afraid to admit to themselves (& forget to advise the designer) that they made a mistake and overcommitted
If you read my post carefully you’ll see that I said “ pick people who have more experience OR people who seem polite in other posts” since she was saying people were being rude when testing! but what I meant by that is to pick some people who are experienced and some people who are newbies but if she’s worried about people being rude then she can see things they’ve said in other posts and see if they are nice or not
! So yes definitely pick some newbies but you should also pick some people who have karma
.
If they’re small, I could test some for you. I’m out of school for the semester and need things to crochet
It wasn’t meant to be demeaning or anything, I was agreeing with you, just also making sure we’d still get the same chances
Oh I didn’t think you were demeaning me ! I just wanted to make sure you understood what I meant
! I consider myself an intermediate crocheter but I only have five karma so I don’t want pattern designers to not let me apply either
.
I found the same on people ghosting, except recently ive been having better luck. Ive reduced my time to few days or a week (for a very small patterns obviously) then people only apply if theyre free pretty much straight away. Ive never had anyone being rude though. If a pattern is wrong then more than one tester will have the problem, or you can just add it up usually on a piece of paper to figure out you mistyped it. I hope you have more luck next time.
