Usually I’d give myself a good reason why i need to make the thing. I am not good at picking up a project but when i do it doesn’t last long because i give up lol

i like to imagine that if i dont do it then someone will come and punch me so i forget how to crochet and then take away my yarn and hooks and family until im so lonely i force myself to remember and then make yarn from my own hair and hooks from some sticks to make whatever im supposed to make.

listening to music helps too!

listen to music!
Take some deep breaths in the fresh air
go outside fo a walk
or take the break u need! I rememer I just didn’t want to crochet for a couple of months, so I took a break, and my desire to crochet sort of just came back to me

I use the Pomodoro technique and a big cup of tea, and some cozy music or series to watch, when I’m not motivated but have a lot of work to do, 25 min work and a 5 min break (use a timer). You can do smaller sessions if 25 min sounds like a lot. Good luck, you can do it. :hugs::heart:

@LE3THAL Definitely just take a break if you need to. Sometimes you need to take a break so you can come back fresh and feel motivated again. It might take a while but it’s worth it. I had to take a long break from crocheting recently and that helped with my mental health.

Breaks are great! I crochet full time and sometimes i take a few weeks to a month off to reset.

I also find it easier to work with other crocheters, in the sense that watching market prep and a day in the life of crocheter videos help me focus!

First thing that I do
Think “Do I have any chores to do?”
If the answer is no, continue to another suggestion.
If the answer is yes, think “Do I want to do them?”
If the answer is no,
Congrats! You now have motivation to start a project!
If the answer is yes or I guess,
Work on that for now and hopefully find motivation later:yellow_heart:
I also like binging a show or youtube channel while I crochet so I don’t get bored

I like having a crochet (accountability) buddy, just have a person you send updates to how far you got and they do the same and then you cheer each other on even if you just got a bit done, it really motivates me to get bits done that you can really show like at least x rows of a garment or a piece of an amigurumi.

But also sometimes you need a break from something you do loads so you don’t burn out, so don’t feel bad to do so!

I avoid doing patterns I’m not making to keep. Instead, make patterns you want to! I can lose motivation for testers because that’s what I don’t want to crochet. Instead, crochet something you want for yourself. You’ll get motivation in no time!

Crochet the thing you want to the most out of all of them. Crochet a gift for someone else. Listen to music. Set a timer and stop crocheting when the timer ends. Imagine what the end result will be like. Good luck!

Breaks. Which don’t typically last long for me however if I miss a day I notice because it’s one of my full time jobs.
