Heyyyy! So I’m gonna go on a road trip over spring break (yes I know its a little early but I wanna start making plans) and need some ideas of what to make! Here is some info that will hopefully help:
I will be in the car for about 15 hours total (
)
I am okay with bringing stuffing but I don’t have 15 hours worth
Self promo is allowed
Any tips for crocheting in the car are welcome to!
I am open to both free and paid patterns and thet don’t have to be on ribblr
I am really open to anything but here are some stuff I would definitely consider:
- Market prep items
- Baby items
- wearables
- I’ve never done one before but I am thinking about trying a blanket so if you have a pattern for one you like pls link it!
If you read all this tysm!

@CraftyCellist’s mesh t-shirt pattern! I’ve been eyeing it for a while… and you don’t have to bring stuffing or safety eyes!

ooh i’d definitely recommend clothes because they don’t take too many materials to make, or market prep like you said, just making a lot of the same things

I went on a road trip last October for about 70 hours in one week
Here are some tips:
-Listen to an audiobook if you can!
-Try and do things that don’t really need patterns, as reading them can make you carsick (ex: granny squares, freehanding things, or just any patterns you have memorized)
-I wouldn’t reccomended making clothes, as you can’t really try them on as you go
-do lots of little projects, i got so bored trying to make a giant one that i just didnt crochet for at least 15 hours of the trip
-Dont try new patterns while in the car: you may not have internet for videos, its confusing honesty, and carsickness
Obviously this is just my personal experience
As for patterns:
With a blanket I’d reccomend a c2c, its repetitive but still interesting and it works up fast
Lots of tiny amigurumi! Leggy frogs, stingrays, octos, and fish use up less stuffing (imo) so you can make a bunch

Hey! I crocheted on a car ride that was 4 days in total… so I have so experience with crocheting in cars lol
The biggest tip I would have for you is to make things that don’t require color changes or a bunch of sewing (it can get SUPER messy). Also bring a TON of stitch markers!!! I lost like 5 on my car trip (and never found them again lol).
I have a python pattern that is super duper fast to make and is no sew! It’s in my shop if u wanna check it out! It’s free :3
Hope this helped a bit!!!

The stitch markers part is so true! I lost around 15 on one and I also lost my favorite yarn needle on a different road trip

)
