So at the end of September, I made a tester call for my Strawberries and cream cardigan. Since then only two of five testers finished the cardigan and the rest aren’t replying to my messages in the group chat, I just messeged them privately. Do you think I should post another tester call or just make changes suggested by the two testers and post the pattern? I would like to publish it before the summer and testing it again would probably take another two months.
I think you should block the testers that didn’t reply and use what the ones who did suggested. Especially if you are wanting to be done by summer
I think that’s what I will have to do. I will give them one or two more days to respond and then proceed. In the future, I will need to accept more testers, because in all my bigger pattern tests situations like this happen. I guess that’s just my luck
Good luck!! You’re great at making patterns and you didn’t deserve this.
Thanks, it’s good to hear that
If I were you, I would see if I cuold find a couple more testers who could finish it pretty fast
I was thinking about it, but it’s hard to do with a cardigan. I don’t want to make people injure themselves because they want to finish this big of a piece in a short amount of time, for example, two weeks
I think I would do it like @Crochet1023 suggested, but I also would use what @T1R3dKn1tt3r suggested. I think it’s for nothing to wait more days for the testers to respond. But I think @craftycellist is kinda fast and good in making clothes, but it’s on you.
I think I was in some pattern test with her because I know the nick, but I don’t remember from where. If she wants to test this pattern for me it would help a lot.
I don’t like being too strict with deadlines, testers are irreplaceable in the pattern writing process and if they need more time I can be patient, that’s why I am considering waiting a few more days. I need to edit the pattern a bit and set the publishing date, so I think that if the rest manage to finish by then I will gift them the pattern, if not they will be blocked
Omg, you all are too nice, two people messaged me wanting to test this pattern quickly
I’m sorry to see this happen I hope my notes and the other tester who finished are helpful and good enough
Something that could be helpful since it’s made to measure is maybe opening a tester call and having people make smaller versions? Like for dolls, etc I actually made a decently sized crochet doll that I use sometimes for tester calls for clothing patterns since it’s big enough to see the outcome but small enough to finish fast, whatever you decide is good and hopefully it all works out in the end
Your notes are awesome, I am now using them to correct the pattern.
Making a cardigan for a doll is such a cute idea, I think it could be doable with this pattern with a bit thinner yarn. Two people reached out to me about wanting to test this pattern so I think this time crisis was averted. Next time I will just accept more pattern testers in the beginning (and next time is coming soon, because I am half way through making a new sweater pattern)
That’s good to hear glad to see the time crisis is averted yeah with the doll I typically use thinner yarn and the results are always similar and has nice stitches
Also, I just read your note at the end, so I hope you can forgive me that I didn’t answer your question earlier. I decided to keep working sleeves in rows and not rounds so the sleeves and body have the same texture. When working in rounds there would be only one side of stitches visible, while working in rows means that in one row you see the front and in the other back
I’m sorry you ran into some issues with some of your testers, but happy to see you got more testers from this post; if ever you run into this issue again please feel free to reach out to me as an emergency tester!
Thanks for the offer, I noted that down, so if I ever encounter a situation like this again I will message you (of course you are welcome to apply to be an un-emergency tester)
I would be happy to! Sometimes I miss the tester calls though as I’m not always super active in the community side of things (currently have 3 part time jobs so my schedule is a bit chaotic). For example, I didn’t even see the tester call for your alchemy bag which looks amazing btw - can’t wait for it to drop! I don’t want to create more work for you, but if you’re not opposed to tagging people in tester calls I would absolutely be cool with being tagged.
I can definitely do that, I already use a template for my tester calls, so I can just add a section with tags at the bottom of it.
About the Alchemy bag, it will drop this Monday and it will be 25% off for a week, so if you want to get it a bit cheaper this will be your chance
That would be awesome- thank you! I’m eagerly awaiting the bag, have it on “notify me” even . Thanks again, btw, and I wish you luck with your new testers for this project.
Hi!!! Depending on the deadline I might be able to test is you still need it! I think you tested my web sleeves! Tysm Sasha for recommending me
