Hello my lovely ribblr friendss <33 I would love to info dump about my special interest service dogs and if you have any questions about them feel free to drop them down below and I will be happy to answer
how long is the training for a service dog on average? i know you mentioned that tons of breeds can be service dogs, but is there a breed that is easiest/hardest to train?
Can all breeds be service dogs or only specific ones
The training depends on the dog and what you are training your dog for but an average of 2 years. The breed once again depends on the dog themselves but you are not likely to use stubborn breeds such as a chihuahua due to them being more aggressive and less likely to listen. Other breeds are not very likely such as pugs due to health conditions being so common. Also “race” dogs are also not very poplular
Any breed can be a service dog! The most common breeds are german shepherds, golden retreviers, labs, poodle and border collies. They are not the only service dogs but are certainly up there on the list
What are the qualifications for needing/having a service dog?
that did make sense, i can imagine my grandma’s dog would make a poor service dog lol. she’s a black lab and is very sweet, but is one of the dumbest creatures i have ever encountered (affectionately)
having a disability. For example, there are autism assistance dogs, seeing eye dogs, hearing dogs, allergin detection dogs, physctriactic service dogs, and so so many more
