Intarsia experts opinion needed

Hi all,

What do you do with your project when you’re not working on it? Everytime I set it down or take it up I spend 5 mins unraveling everything :sob: Did I maybe choose to many colour changes?

I cannot just work on a table and leave it there as I own a clepto cat that will have a lot of fun with it if I’m not looking.

Thank you in advance!

I am not an expert, but I hope this helps:

If I am working on smt but I want to put it away for a bit I will actually just put it in an old show box and slide it under my bed! I find that it just helps me to clear up my space (bedroom ) if I want to work on smt else or whatever.

Again, not a professional, but I hope this helps!

I usually just leave it around my yarn stash :sob: I’m not very organized, so that probably doesn’t help (half the time I lose it too!)

Good advice, but in this case it will get tangled in the box as well :sob: unless I carry it like a newborn baby :smiling_face_with_tear:

Im no expert but here’s my thoughts, when you need to set it aside roll up the different yarn balls as close as possible to the project, really tight, and use the clips to secure them so that they’re not dangling, maybe?

Have you ever seen the jigsaw puzzle mats that people work on, where they can roll up the puzzle when it’s not in use?

If you were to use a towel or something like that instead, you could lay your work out on that just as you have done in the picture. Then, when you’ve finished a crochet session and want to put it away, you can roll up your project with the towel (like a Swiss roll) so there’s a layer of towel in between your work and everything will be kept separate, neat and untangled ready for next time.

This works really well for me. :orange_heart:

I did that actually after I posted this, thought ā€œwhat do I barely useā€ and found some festive table cloths :see_no_evil_monkey::see_no_evil_monkey:

It does work well, wouldn’t say perfect but if I’m not the only one using it, maybe that’s a good idea:heart_hands:t3:

Have you considered getting a piece of cardboard and using hair clips to clip your crochet piece to it, and cutting slits at the top of the cardboard to hold your yarn? Sort of like this which is for friendship bracelets:

ohhh, that might actually just do the trick! (sorry for the late reply)

I understand. Luckily I have a designated table.

I’m not sure of the size of your project. But you could take a plastic tub and put your yarn spools on the lid. Then put the tub down over top of it and move it that way.
