Knitting Needles for Socks?

So I’m on a mini vacation with family and I went to this little yarn store and she hand dyes some yarn there and I bought some to make socks! I got a fingering weight yarn but my dilemma is that I don’t have needles small enough and the pattern me and my mom like (making us some matching socks) asks for 2.25mm needles and I only have down to a 3mm in my in my interchangeable set off amazon.

I’d like to get an interchangeable set to do the magic loop method because DPN’s seem dangerous for me at least :sob: I’ve done the magic loop method before for my sweater sleeves (which I just finished and will post about soon!) and I’d like the size to range from 2.25mm to at most a 4.5mm and to keep them shorter like the 2 inch length with longer cords to be able to do the magic loop method. I don’t want to get the really fancy ones because that isn’t in my budget so if their budget friendly even better!

I’d also love to hear any tips on knitting socks since I’ve done German short rows for my sweater before and people say socks can be difficult as a first project but the socks would make it my third now that I’ve started leg warmers with cables i’ve done the magic loop method before for my sweater sleeves (which I just finished and will post about soon!) and I’d like the size to range from 2.25mm to at most a 4.5mm and to keep them shorter like the 2 inch length with longer cords to be able to do the magic loop method. I totally understand your dilemma. Unfortunately I cannot help you. I knit socks with double pointed needles…
