Let’s talk hook sizes! Who else loves the challenge of micro-crochet? 🧶✨

Happy Tuesday, Ribblr family! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Today, I wanted to share a little bit about my favorite tool—my trusty 1.0 mm crochet hook. I absolutely love using it because it creates those tight, beautiful stitches where the body doesn’t show through the fabric at all. It takes a lot of patience, but the final look is always worth it!

I’m curious about your preferences. Are you a fan of micro-crochet with tiny hooks, or do you prefer working with chunky yarn and huge hooks? Let’s chat in the comments! :backhand_index_pointing_down::orange_heart:

For me, working with a 1.0 mm hook feels like a superpower, even if it takes a bit longer! What is your absolute favorite hook size to work with? :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::backhand_index_pointing_down:

My fav hook size to work with is either a 4mm or a 3.5 (for tighter sts)

I prefer smaller yarn and hooks because it feels sooo good to work with plus its comfier than really chunky yarn!

I like using my trusted 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm hooks! I like how tight my stitches are when I use them

3mm for my fav cotton and acrylic blend yarn, 4.5 for my fluffy yarn, and 6mm for my chenille. The only hooks I use lol

Wow, a 1 mm hook, I’m impressed.

I think to use that size hook at my age, I’d need 3 pairs of magnifying glasses, one on top of the other to be able to see what I’m doing. LOL

I’d love to be able to make a beautiful tablecloth if I could though. Some of them are so stunning. And I totally agree. Using a 1 mm can makes some really amazing work.

I can see you’re a very patient person and I admire that. Sometimes it’s not only about the finished product but also about really enjoying and luxuriating in the process itself. :slightly_smiling_face:

My hook I use most often is a 4mm. And mostly what I makes is sweaters

I tried doing micro crochet, but my hands are too big It’s hard to see the stitch cuz my fingers cover them. I typically make chunkier works, but I like using 3.5-6 mm hooks. Im currently making a dragon with a 6 mm hook. I’ve also been meaning to make a chunky weighted quilt with plush yarn!

I totally agree! Smaller yarn and hooks definitely feel more comfortable in the hands and the stitch definition is always so beautiful. 3.5mm is a fantastic size for getting that perfect tension!

2.5mm is such a sweet spot! You get the best of both worlds—beautiful tight stitches without it taking forever to finish. Thanks for sharing! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

That is a perfect lineup! It covers everything from light projects to chunky chenille. Having a specific go-to hook for each yarn type makes crocheting so much smoother. Thanks for sharing!:yarn:

Oh, small hooks are absolutely essential for amigurumi to make sure the stuffing doesn’t show through! 2mm to 3mm creates the neatest plushies. Love that! :teddy_bear::sparkling_heart:

Wow, your microcrochet earrings are absolutely gorgeous! The detail on those flowers and butterflies is incredible. 1.4 mm is a great size, and you can really see the neatness in every single piece. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work! :cherry_blossom::butterfly::sparkles:

Wow, 0.5 mm is legendary! That is true micro-crochet mastery. 1.75 mm with cotton creates such an elegant and classic look. Kudos to your patience! :yarn::raising_hands:
