Ok so I was writing a pattern from a YouTube vid and there are a bunch of long sentences that NEED to be shortened !! Iāll write my abbreviations and if u wanna add anything then reply to this post down below !!
1- instead of sew on head : SOH ( sew on head )
2- instead of sew on body : SOB ( sew on body )
3- instead of sew the hole close : SHC ( sew hole close )
4- instead of in every st : ES ( every st )
5- instead of in the same st : SS ( same st )
and that was it ! , Hereās a poll to see who agrees with me !

ss is the way I write slip stitch.
I donāt like the idea myself. It would need an explanation which would take longer than writing out the needed sentence. I mean, how many times in a pattern do you have to sew on head, or body ā¦

I personally think that slip stitch should be written: slst

I feel like almost no patterns would be written that way, so when you come across those, they would be way more confusing. I also see a lot of people use ss for slip stitchā¦

I agree that most would be helpful, but like others said, slip stitch is often āssā and unfortunately it would be very hard to get everyone to use these

Beginners have a hard enough time without having to figure out what new abbreviations mean.
Unfortunately for crochet there isnāt really an international standard for stitch meanings or abbreviations. Thus the US vs UK differences.
Plus designers that choose their own name or abbreviations for already existing stitches are designers I opt not to buy from
Iāve crossed out their abbreviations and written in the more common ones that Iām familiar with. Such as slst for slip stitch
