Let's time travel!

It’s a new year :partying_face:so let’s time travel to the first time we tried crochet:sob: cause it’s a lot to soak in its 2026 guys:scream: and let’s all name one thing we thought was amazing :star_struck:but was truly a rookie mistake :pensive_face: I’ll go first:grin:all I could do anything but chain and sc:expressionless_face: so I made chain bracelets:sweat_smile: and I was thinking of selling them at school:anxious_face_with_sweat:(I did not end up doing it)after that I tried to crochet a scarf :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:but I did not know what stitches where:face_with_steam_from_nose: so I just pop it in somewhere and do a SC:sad_but_relieved_face: and out of nowhere :dotted_line_face:it decreased and ended looking like a dress :woman_dancing:so I made it :nerd_face:after that I tried again:face_with_peeking_eye: after a month:face_with_raised_eyebrow: I finished :winking_face_with_tongue:and it was crazy:shaking_face: some rows with increases some with decreases:face_with_bags_under_eyes: tell me your stories of your rookie mistakes:kissing_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The first project i made… I think it was a worm. :sob: Made out of chains :sob::smiling_face_with_tear:. From a skein of yarn…! :smiling_face_with_tear: And i kinda just repeated it abt 10 times??? (it ended up looking like I braided the thing 9,000 times over and over again :sweat_smile:)

I currently do amigurumi, and I think i’ve done pretty well! (and then you look at your past projects :melting_face:) I tried making a whale (out of cotten yarn, ofc, bc OBIVOUSLY it was the best yarn for beginners?!?) :rofl:. With a 4 mm hook?? (silently juding myself). And then I didn’t have any stuffing, so I stuffed it with… shredded socks :melting_face::sweat_smile::rofl::rofl::rofl:○( ^皿^)っ Hehehe…

soo yeah… (I still don’t know how to make a granny square, don’t come at me :sweat_smile::sweat_smile:)

Amigurumi = make plushies until your room is filled with them, then move them to a different room, repeat :rofl:

Clothing = see bootiful cardigan/sweater that costs 20$, make it for free, spend 60$ on yarn :rofl::rofl::rofl:

It’s just crochet logic:rofl::rofl:

I‘m new with crocheting. I began a few days after Christmas last year because I saw so many cute amigurumis and wanted one too. But I don’t wanted to buy one because I thought makeing one on my own is cheaper and not that difficult :smiling_face_with_tear:
Absolutely wrong thought. I learned it by myself with YouTube videos and ChatGPT to translate patterns for me :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
My first try was a turtle with cotton yarn. Hated it. Isn’t fluffy like I wanted. So I directly switched to chenille yarn dark brown and made a bunny. The head have no proportions and nearly no filling :sob:
And my now latest project was a cow. Not perfect but definitely better :blush:

I started with amigurumi, or at least tryed to. I was able to do the magic ring but after that was tricky. if the pattern said “1sc, inc” I would just do 3sc in one stitch. after a while though, I figured it out, and I”m so glad that I did not give up. :heart:

Just some feedback, the emoticons after each sentence is messing with my comprehension of what you’re trying to communicate.

my mom made me practice just single crocheting and my rws were not straight :sob:

i ended scing into the sides to get the right st count.

my first plushie was a cat from a kit and both the arms and the tail fell off

my first plushie was a cinnamoroll woobles and it looks absolutely terrible I lost it a while ago and made another one with the leftover yarn and it looked even worse . I don’t know where either of them are but they are both terrifying :sweat_smile: :rofl:

try using a chenille/plush yarn, because woobles yarn is kinda hard to crochet with

I do use chenille yarn but mostly worsted yarn because its cheaper :sweat_smile:
