I do not have any tips, when I first started I was struggling with the magic ring as well but once I got the hang of it I realized that its really easy. Let me find you a good tutorial that explains it good.

If you close it while you go then it closes better, I used to struggle with them but as a beginner I made more than 100 little hearts that started with mc’s and then I got the hand of it, I recommend doing a bunch of small projects with them for practice.

I just make a slip knot with a big loop, make a ch and work into the loop, then close it. It works well for me.

Well, I used to struggle a lot with them too. I had a lot of trouble with tension so after 30 mins of struggling, I found a new tut and got it first try. You basically hold your yarn as normal, then form a loop around your middle finger. Then yarn over, pull through, and make a chain stitch. Then sc however many times as you need! I can find a yt tut, hold on.

You don’t HAVE to take it off your finger to add the single crochets, in fact, I think keeping it on makes it easier for tension control. Also, you can hold the yarn how you normally do in the typical holding position. You just gotta follow the tutorial!
