Remember when in July, my pattern (Britney The Mer-Dog) got uploaded for free via Scribd, completely out of spite? Well, I’ve reported it for IP infringement, which I should have done ages ago. AND IT’S FINALLY GONE! Apparently, clicking on that flag doesn’t do much good–I had to do an OFFICIAL copyright infringement report.
Anyway, it feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Thank you everyone, for getting my back!
Full story: It all started with one of my pattern tests (2-In-1 Mer-Animals). As I expected, one of my testers sent me some notes, which I did add…some of them anyway. I couldn’t add the other notes, due to circumstances, and not without a disclaimer. For example, “I prefer to sew up gaps AFTER crocheting the tail, because crocheting into stitches that are sewn together would be difficult.” “You can use safety eyes, but they’re not recommended for children under 3 years of age, due to a choking hazard.” “The reason why pieces may be too big, might be due to the tension.”
Before the pattern uploaded, the person who gave the notes to me said “I would say it was a pleasure, but I don’t like telling lies!” That surprised me, and I didn’t understand what I had done. But because I didn’t think much of it when I should have done, I carried on as usual.
To read the rest of the story, I’ve added two links to them. Be warned that they’re rather upsetting.
You didn’t do anything wrong! So glad you got the pattern issues resolved. There are some people in the world that feel they need to exist just to make others miserable. I can understand how you feel. I am a bit of a people pleaser and had an incident recently here on Ribblr. I was trying to be helpful and give some simple advice when I was met with rudeness. It hurts and doesn’t fully go away. But we carry on!
That reminds me. They also said I should explain how the pieces should be sewn on. I remember having to ask you what kind of stitching is this, but you said that I didn’t need to add that sort of note.
I’m sorry Laura you had to go through this. You are right, clicking the flag just doesn’t always work. I am very happy you were able to get it resolved. Mine wasn’t. I was simply told people get inspiration from all places. Because the other person’s was one of the new video patterns, well I was told it wasn’t mine. My Little Boo IP was stolen. Nothing done about it. But then I know I am the “stepchild “. So I just keep going on.
It was THAT person!??!??? I wondered who was behind the scribed pattern stealing, I’m glad they took it down because this is absolutely an absurd situation.
