mystery item-(solved, cable needles)

anyone know what this is? i got a crochet kit from my aunt and it came with these things… i can’t find what they are for the life of me. i’ve been crocheting a while and i’ve never come across one of these. anyone know?

They are called cable needles :slight_smile: you can look into cable knitting, it allows you to make interesting, twisty shapes!

these are one example of cable needles, they can be used in both knit and crochet to produce a plaited pattern that stands out from your work.
A cable is created whenever you work your stitches out of order, making a twist in the fabric. The cable needle (or cable jump) holds the skipped stitches temporarily.

but using it for crochet cables is much easier , and less bulky than post stitches
