Hello,
I am trying to make a capital letter “S” fit nicely within a panel of single crochet: 61 st across x 85 st down. The letter would have to be reverse popcorn stitches, and centered in the pattern.
I tried using stitch fiddle while looking at pictures of crochet alphabets, but they were all on such a small scale and I couldn’t get it right (and it was my first time using SF).
Can anyone point me in a better direction?
Thanks so much.
maybe you could make an image with the ¨S¨ in a higher resolution then import that to stitchfiddle? this is what i mean:
^ here, i made a 61x85 canvas and sized it up to keep the ratio. then, i inserted the text box with the “S” and centered it
^ changed the font, color, and background then exported it
^ making the chart, selected this option
^ changed the size to 85 (brought the width down to 60 for some reason but hopefully that isn’t too much of an issue) and reduced it to 2 colors
update (i misunderstood the first time)
alright, so i made the assumption that each reverse popcorn stitch is roughly equivalent to a 2x2 square of scs. first i made a rectangle around the S in the main file with a 1-stitch allowance on every side and erased the S itself. (this is to have a guide as to where to put the smaller S)
then i made another file with a height of 42 (since it’s roughly half of 85). filled in the gaps, opened it beside the original file, and began to copy the smaller version into the rectangle i drew earlier. here’s what i ended with:
(it was slightly off center, but i fixed it by adding 1 row on the right and deleting one on the left)
this is very long but hopefully it sorta makes sense
Thank you very much for going to SO much trouble to help me! I truly appreciate it
