Just a quick little suggestion. The new note that was added to all tester calls is confusing people. Designers are not removing it and making people think that they are telling testers they have to make the item. Unless Iām missing something, we donāt need to tell testers they have to actually make the item as that is the entire purpose of testing and a given (unless the designer specifically asks for people to just read through it).
Maybe it could say āNote to designer: ā¦ā and add āremove before posting.ā That way if the designer doesnāt remove it, at least testers know who it is for.
Sorry if my assumption this is for designers is wrong. It just makes sense with all the posts without a finished item photo.
Im new here ,but I read that as a note to the tester, that it must be their work they submit ..
Look it this way .. if say a 15 year old , that has only been crocheting a week offered .. then asked say me .. nearly 50 and been crocheting 15 plus years ā¦
Itās not going to be the 15 year olds opinion and pointers on the pattern. Nor work .. so not a true reflection on what the designer needs
So yes I think that needs to stay .. plus there is the whole .. you should not share patterns thing as well ..
As a designer, i would like to have my testers to make the pattern so i can make sure they actually read through it. Seeing their finished product makes me more confident that it turned out well.
The note was added likely because people are not posting pictures of their finished product that they created to their tester callā¦and that is what nova is understanding it as.
I understand it this way tooā¦as there was an issue with people posting a tester call without a photo of the item to be tested.
If that is the incorrect assumption for why that note was added to it, that is for ribblr to answer.
this is a good idea! it being for the designer makes sense, as obviously people who test will make the item. but having a little āremove this before you postā would be nice!
I have never heard of this being an issue. Not saying it doesnāt happen but in the 100+ tests Iāve ran, not once have I had an issue with the person applying not being the person who made it.
Either way, it is confusing and needs to be reworded.
I have personally not seen this new note yet, and am also not sure if I understand it correctly⦠but as a frequent tester, I think it should stay! Due to health issue, sometimes I am not able to finish testing in time or I already know beforehand that I will not be able to physically make the pattern and instead ātestā the pattern by proofreading it and giving tips on slterations (grammar, stitch counts, unclear parts etc.). I of course always do this with good communication with the pattern designer, but a note/tag like this could help testers realise you can only test by physically making the pattern!
Thank you for this. Iāve noticed the note on a lot recent tester calls and wondered why so many mentioned that. It makes more sense that itās a note for the designer and not intended to be posted in the tester call.
I assume itās for the designer, to remind the designer that there is a policy that the designer must make the item themselves before sending it for a testing call. There are a lot of people asking AI to write their pattern and they donāt actually make it themselves and often times it doesnāt turn out correctly when tested and thatās unfair to the tester and waste their time and effort when the designer wasnāt even willing to make it themselves to find out that the AI pattern doesnāt work up properly. This would be unfair to the testers, so I think itās a great idea that the designer should have to make the item and post a pic of it in the tester call.
