Newbie Tips

hi friends! I thought it might be fun to ask what advice you would give yourself as a beginner crocheter. esp since I’m new to it, I’d love to know what y’all would say :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Definitely tension, hook size and yarn over vs yarn under(i now yarn under for everything I make) For amigurumi, it would be turning it to the right side (I didn’t discover for a long time, so many were on the wrong side ) I also like using the invisible decrease instead of a regular decrease for everything :)

For a long time I did only sc in the blo for everything… I didn’t know there were other stitches and that there were 2 loops I was supposed to work through. I’d tell myself to learn more stitches right at the beginning, like dc and hdc, and show myself the 2 loops. Once I made a hat that was only sc and there was like one round in the blo :sob:

i had no idea there was a difference for yarn over/under :sob: I’m gonna have to keep a better eye on that. and I didn’t know there was an invisible decrease :eyes:

I learned most of these things from yt and I think yarn under and inv dec makes amigurumi more round and better shaped
