                                          Life during communism

In October 1917 Vladimir Lenin and his communist clan, the Bolsheviks took control of Russia. They promised the people better lives, but they lied. The people’s lives were not better under communism. They lived in poverty and lacked many basic freedoms such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to leave the country, and many more. If anyone doubted or opposed the Bolsheviks, they were exiled, executed or imprisoned. There was a civil war for years, but in the end the Bolsheviks won. Since the rulers in communist governments have all the power and control, most governments have fallen apart. Living in communism was, and still is harsh, but today, only five communist countries remain.
