Hi, I need some help with my pattern pictures. I’m currently designing a new pattern, but when I try to upload my pictures, they always come out cropped and don’t look right in the pattern thumbnail. I’ve noticed this issue since the latest update and the new listing page. I’m wondering if there is a new ratio, and if anyone has found a solution to this problem.
Pictures have to be 4:3 landscape
I’ve been told that a new feature will be added so that photos can be clicked on to view them in their original ratio, but without clicking they will still all automatically appear cropped. Maybe you can edit them to add blank spaces to wherever extra dimension is needed? I’m contemplating doing that as I really don’t want to retake almost ALL of my photos. I honestly don’t see how it is an improvement to restrict the ratio, considering how many pre-existing patterns will be negatively impacted by it. Even for future patterns it’s really limiting to designers to have to take all their photos in a particular ratio.
For amigurumi, I feel the majority of projects are taller than they are wide. So, I wish portrait was allowed. It’s impossible to get a good closeup of a tall doll in landscape. I had to learn the 4:3 landscape rule the hard way.
Yes I agree!
@Ribblr any chance of going back to the old format? As both a consumer and a seller, the new way pattern listings and their photos are displayed are very un-user friendly
