I did my first ever pattern test last week and loved it. I had a great experience and the process seemed to be easy enough to work through.
Earlier this week I applied to be a tester for the Skull Granny Square pattern and have just been waiting to see if I was selected as a tester like the first time.
Today I received an email message from âRibblr notificationsâ telling me I had 7 days left to test this pattern.
This isnât what I was expecting. This is the first time Iâve received any notification that I was selected for this pattern test. I was expecting a message from the designer to advise that Iâd been approved as a tester and a link to the pattern like last time.
I had a look in âmy stuffâ under âtestingâ but nothing is there.
Could someone please advise me how I should proceed with this test?
If its not showing up under your testing tab, then its possible the ribblr notification was maybe for the previous pattern you tested and was old? (and when I say this I mean the system is behind and just caught up, not that the email itself is old) Because if its not on your testing tab, thereâs no active test for you.
Once you do get selected, you donât really get notified until the designer sends something unfortunately. And some designers have failed to do so in the past so itâs a sudden surprise when you look and there it is. Probably something Ribblr shoudl add about a notification when something is added to your testing library?
Also try logging out and back in again just to make sure it doesnât magically appear. Sometimes thereâs cache issues
Thanks for this information. When I open the email it says â7 days left to test Skull Granny Squareâ so I know it isnât for the previous test.
I know many of us are relatively new to Ribblr, (makers, designers and testers) and weâre all trying to navigate our way around the site and learn on the go. Is there a section on Ribblr where for example there is a detailed âdocumentâ of the process/procedure on how designers should send out requests for pattern testers and how to conduct them? As well as for testers on how they should apply, what to expect and how to proceed with the test?
I think I will need to reach out to the pattern designer to find out if they can help.
Odd. I suggest logging out and back in because if you were actually approved as a tester, it would show up there. That might help it appear. If not, reach out to Ribblr because it should be there.
As far as document of the process/procedures, the best is the help center. It has different topics for testing. Or just ask in this space and people can help.
Kind of a blanket idea of how it works, when people click the picture and click apply, it goes to the designers testing tab. They get a list and they can approve, reject, or block testers. Approved testers get the pattern sent to their testing library. The designer can create the group chat for them to submit feedback but new designers might not be aware of how to do that so it can create issues.
There IS a possibility you were approved and then removed which would be strange and would impact your karma which is why I would reach otu to Ribblr to confirm :)
No problem! If it were just the GC not being set up, I would totally say go to the designer but if its not showing up in your tester tab, thatâs more of a ribblr related issue. Just wanted to point that out in case it did happen again and its in your tab, just no chat. That would be more of a designer issue.
No that is not is it in your pattern library or did you get a notification of it being gifted? If not that means they approved you but then released the pattern. That will impact your testing karma so definitely not ok for you or other testers involved.
I would day either reach out to the designer and tell them that by them publishing it, you are unable to test and they need to make it a draft again so you can see it in your testing library.
Or you can go to ribblr and see if they can help clear it up. If the designer will not fix it, I would tell ribblr so they can remove it from your tester score so it wonât show that you failed a test
